Assembly Supports MoFA


The West Akyem Municipal Assembly has presented one 4×4 pickup and 11 Debi motor bikes to workers of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA) Directorate in the municipality to enhance their work.

The vehicles were secured by Government under the Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana (MAG) program funded by the Canadian Government.

Speaking at a ceremony to hand over the vehicles to the MoFA Municipal directorate, the Municipal chief Executive of the West Akyem Municipal Assembly, Mr. Seth Oduro Boadu made a clarion call to the workers of MOFA to keep in view the current governments policies , planting for Food and job (PFJ) and planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) and work diligently to ensure a successful implementation of these programs.

He advised staff who will be using the motorbikes to inculcate good maintenance culture to enhance the lifespan of the motorbikes.

He intimated that they had no option to fail since the Government has tooled them to work hard adding that the General extension service delivery of farmers and their General performance will be measured in the yield and produce of our farmers in the coming years.
The MCE promised to set up a 2-member monitoring team with the help of the MOFA leadership to ensure the effective and proper usage of the motorbikes.

As part of the presentation the MCE also visited the nursery for the Planting for Export and Rural Development (PERD) where they have nursed about 45,000 palm seedlings for free distribution to the farmers to plant in their farm to help boost the Local Economic Development (LED).

He used the opportunity thank the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, “for helping our farmers to better their livelihood through the intervention.”
