*ISSUED: 14th March, 2019*

*PRESS RELEASE* : *GRASAG-UEW CALLS FOR CALMNESS*

GRASAG-UEW witnessed with deep regret and revulsion of disruption of some lectures on Winneba Campus on Monday 13thh March, 2019, during what was purpoted to have been peaceful demonstration by a section of the students and a hint of additional intended demonstrations.

While acknowledging that disputes may occur from time to time and that students have the right to demonstrate, the use of violence and destruction to resolve such issues are totally unacceptable.

Students have the right to protest against what they feel is wrong, however in a more civilized and peaceful manner.

We are urging students to exercise some restraints and be calm

We appeal to *ALL* including the police to employ all peaceful strategies to calm down the student body and all others to stop further demonstrations that are likely to lead to serious insecurities to human lives and destruction of properties.

We believe also strongly that Management has and is listening to the cry of students and believe that the aftermath will be positive.

As important stakeholders sharing a common heritage, let us work together to ensure peaceful coexistence, tolerance and forbearance, uplifting the image of our great University to the highest possible heights together is paramount
