The Kontihene of Kwahu Abene, Nana Simpeh Owiredu, has lamented about the rate at which the Kwahu Easter festivity is losing its main focus to immoral acts, robberies, car snatching, alcoholism, drug abuse among others.

According to Nana Owiredu, the Kwahu Easter festival was initially instituted with the aim of attracting tourist to the Kwahu area, attracting investors and to showcase the rich culture of the Kwahu people to patrons who throng the mountains during the period but has now been turned into a different thing all together.
He has therefore pleaded with people who visit the area for the festival to let the ideals of the festival reflect in whatever they will be doing.
Nana Owiredu was speaking with the media ahead of this year’s Easter Festival slated to begin this week.
On his part, Chief of Obomeng, Nana Effah Opinamang III, admonished the youth to use the occasion to learn about the traditions and culture of Kwahu and stay away from social vices.
The Queen mother of the Kwahu Traditional Council, Nana Adjoa Gyamfua III is equally worried about the situation has called on the youth to check their lifestyle and fashion sense as they prepare to move to the mountains for the easter.
Good time
Meanwhile, the Ghana Tourism Authority says it is ready to give patrons especially tourists a good time. Eastern Regional manager of the authority, Frederick Adjei-Rudolph, said all the necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of the people who shall visit the mountains for the festival.
