Multiple awards winning gospel singer Empress Gifty (Osei) Adorye has projected the ‘Mo ne Yo’ hit maker Diana Hamilton to win this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards(VGMA)’s Gospel Artiste of the year over reigning Champion Joe Mettle and others.
The 2019 VGMA is scheduled this Saturday, 18th May, 2019.
Many entertainment pundits have taken to social media to express their views about the prestigious awards scheme.
Gospel Artiste of the Year
Diana Hamilton is in the Gospel Artiste of the year category with competition from the ‘Repent’ hit maker Joyce Blessing and reigning Gospel artiste champion Joe Mettle.
Others in the same category are KODA, Obaapa Christy and Akesse Brempong.
Taking to Social media platform, Facebook, Gifty Osei posted the picture of Diana Hamilton with a short message “My Gospel Artiste of the year 2019 Diana Hamilton II….. Ebi mo ada #teamdiana”
Mrs. Adorye is the latest to add her voice to the list of many showbiz pundits who believe this year is Ms. Hamilton’s.
Ms. Hamilton is the only Gospel artiste billed to perform at this year’s VGMA. This has gotten many pundits saying the sole choice is even indication of the hardwork she has put in her job this years. Others have also chastised charterhouse, organisers of the award for sidelining Gospel Music and promoting secular Music in the country.
Meanwhile, in the Gospel Artiste of the decade category, Gifty Osei has projected Gospel Music group No Tribe to win the award. The award category is fiercely being contested by names like Samini, Shatta Wale and Sarkodie. However Mrs. Adorye believes ‘No Tribe’ have worked hard over the years to deserve the prestigious award.
