Chief Executive Officer of the Community Group of Hospitals and a private businessman, Alexander Akwasi Acquah has donated a brand new Nissan frontier pickup to the New Patriotic Party in the Akyem Oda Constituency.
The pickup which costs GHC80,000.00 is to honour the memory of the late Alex Amankwa Asare, a former Chairman of the party in Ivory Coast who was laid to rest over the weekend at Akyem Oda.
Speaking to the Daily Statesman after the donation, Mr. Akwasi Acquah stated that the late Amankwa Asare had discussed with him plans to donate a car to the party in the Oda Constituency. He said the late Amankwa Asare had expressed worry about the constituency’s inability to own a car that could be used for party activities. Unfortunately, Mr. Amankwa Asare could not honour his promise before his death.
According to Mr. Acquah, he felt obliged as a member of the party and a bossom friend of Mr. Amankwa Asare to honour the promise by the NPP Chairman on his behalf hence the decision to donate the car on the day of the laying to rest of Mr. Asare.
He expressed optimism that the car will enhance the activities of the party in the constituency.
Receiving the car on behalf of the constituency, Awudu Issaka, Constituency Chairman of the Akyem Oda NPP, thanked Mr. Acquah for the donation. He stated that the constituency will put the car to good use to ensure that the party increases its vote in the 2020 general election.
Former MP for the Akyem Oda Constituency and Ghana’s Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo who witnessed the donation also expressed his appreciation to Mr. Acquah for the kind gesture. He called on all party faithfuls to emulate the gesture done by the businessman.
