GES Indeterminately Halts Transfers of Staff

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has halted the transfer of its teaching and non-teaching staff until further notice.

The Ghana Education Service said the category of transfer include Inter-Regional Postings and Releases for 2019.

In addition,Inter-District and Intra-District Postings and Releases are part of the categories of transfers being halted until further notice.

The Ghana Education Service has informed all Regional Directors of Education to bring this information to its staff through the respective District ,Municipal and Metropolitan Education Directorates

Purpose

Though there has been no definite purpose being given for the decision above,EducationGhana can confirm the decision has a direct relationship with the ongoing Curriculum Training.

Besides,the Curriculum Training which is being organized for Kindergarten and Basic 1 to 6 teachers (facilitators), has made it difficult for teachers to be transferred since it can not be ascertained, the specific vacant classes .

In this regard,the GES has decided to put all transfers on hold until further notice,n order to train all teachers at the Kindergarten and Primary levels for the new curriculum.

Speaking on Neat Fm,.an Accra based radio station in Accra on Tuesday,August 20,2019, the Director General of the GES, Prof. Kwesi Opoku Amankwa said postings and transfers are now being organized in collaboration with the Public Service Commission.

In that regard,the Public Service Commission has a system called the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) that collates all TRANSFERS AND POSTINGS of GES staff.

”The HRMIS must be fed with information relating to schools with vacancy in order to help the Ghana Education Service distribute its staff evenly.” He said.
