Captain of the Black Stars, Andre Dede Ayew, has called on the Police to forgive Awal Sulaiman, the young man who invaded the pitch during Ghana’s 2-0 win over South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday night.

Sulaiman, a 25-year old nursing graduate is currently in the custody of Cape Coast Police and is set to be arraigned before court on Monday.

A number of Ghanaians have taken to social media to plead on behalf of the pitch invader but the Police are yet to soften their stance on the matter.

Media reports on Friday suggest that attempt by the Sulaiman’s family to get him out of the grips of the Police have proven futile.

However, the captain of the Black Stars has jumped into the band wagon to plead on behalf of the young man.

“We know how passionate football is, but it very important for everyone to always abide by safety rules at the stadium to make the place safe for everyone”, Andre Ayew said.

“I want to plead with authorities to tamper justice and mercy to our dear fans, especially intruder Awal Suleman and I hope this will not happen again”, the Black Stars skipper pleaded.

The Black Stars are currently training in Accra ahead of their trip to Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday for the second game of the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.
