Women’s wing maidens (WWM), an all-female group belonging to the women’s wing of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has elected Portia Adjoa Ampofowaa Attafuah as its president.
Ms Attafuah, who will also serve as the national coordinator for the group, was ushered into office yesterday.
“We humbly inform all regional, constituency coordinators and other women volunteer groups that, effective from Monday 29th June 2020, Miss Adjoa Ampofowaa Attafuah has assumed the position of National President of NPP Women’s Wing Maidens (WWM),” a statement from the group said.
“The patrons and advisors entreat everyone to rally behind Miss Attafuah with utmost love and dedication just like we worked with the previous leader to make WWM great,” the statement added.
WWM is an initiative of the national women’s wing with the primary objective of serving as a springboard to co-opt past women commissioners of the party’s students wing, Tertiary Education Students Confederacy (TESCON), into the mainstream party.
About Ms Attafuah
Miss Portia Ajoa Ampofoh Attafuah holds a BSc in Nursing and has quite a great amount of political experience up her sleeves. She started as a TESCON research officer, back in the nursing school, rising to become a deputy women’s commissioner before leaving campus.
Upon seeking further studies, she became the main Women’s Commissioner of TESCON for the Garden City University in Kumasi.
She was the first welfare director of WWM and later became Head of Operations for Middle Belt, Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo and Eastern Regions, before her election as the current president. The group describes her dedication and commitment to the party in the Ashanti Region and beyond as ‘immeasurable’.
