The Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda, William Agyapong Quaittoo, has asked all members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency to work together to ensure a second-term victory for the party.

According to the Oda legislator, the many successful projects, policies and programmes implemented by the Akufo-Addo government call for a united force to consolidate the party’s gains and retain power.

Speaking to the Daily Statesman over the weekend, the MP indicated that this is the only way the party can continue to salvage the country from the ruins the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) left Ghana.

Majority a must

The MP added that while President Akufo-Addo’s victory in 2020 looks highly certain, the party will need absolute majority in Parliament to successfully execute its policies. To this end, he has called on all members and supporters of the party who feel aggrieved by the outcome of the party’s recently held parliamentary primaries to let sleeping dogs lie and work together in the supreme interest of the party.

He has therefore asked them to go all out to work and vote for the party’s candidate for the constituency, Alexander Akwasi Acquah.

“I don’t subscribe to ‘skirt and blouse’. It is likely, per the work we have done, that Akufo-Addo will win, but he needs majority in Parliament to work with. So, I am asking every party member to ensure that Akwasi Acquah wins as MP. We need to maintain this seat at all cost,” the MP, who doubles as the Chairman of the Education Committee of Parliament, said.

He further called on residents in the area to look at all the many developmental projects carried out in the area by the Akufo-Addo government and vote massively for the President and the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area for the continuation of all the good works started.
