NPP MP shot dead


The Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region, Ekow Quansah Hayford, has been shot dead.

Report says the New Patriotic Party MP was shot and left bleeding to death by his assailants on the Abeadze Dominase – Abeadzi Duadzi – Mankessim road.

According to Coastal FM, a local radio station in the area, the first term MP was attacked in the early hours of Friday, October 9, 2020 when he was returning home from a campaign trip.

The attack

Eyewitness says the MPs assailants  ordered him and his entourage to stop moving before he was shot.

He narrated that “the unmasked attackers asked us to lie down; some of us run to the bush. The gunmen immediately shot at the MP who was in his Land Cruiser at the time.”

“And so after they had left we got closer to the MP who was groaning in pain as he asked for water. He was not responding to my calls when I returned with the drink,” he told the media.

The MP who is also the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency died at aged 50.
