As part of measures to fight climate change, which has become a growing concern in the world, a low-temperature thermal decomposition system has been unveiled in Accra to help communities, institutions, individuals and organisations decompose waste products without emitting carbon dioxide.
The system, developed by Ghanaian based Japanese company, E-Light Corporation, is capable of processing burnable waste without using a supplemental fuel. This provides low temperature pyrolysis furnace that is compact, low cost and safe to the ecosystem.
Unveiling the system in Accra, Masanori Mizobe, Chief Executive Officer of the company, said the system is not an incinerator but rather a low-temperature thermal decomposition furnace that does not require the use of electricity or a supplemental fuel to operate.
He explained that the system is environmentally friendly since the waste can be burnt by just adjusting the amount of inflow of specially magnetized air.
“It reliably avoids the decomposition temperatures at which dioxins and NOx generate in large quantities by decomposing waste at low temperature and low oxygen,” Mr Mizobe said.
He explained that “due to low temperature treatment, the main unit has excellent durability.”
Again, because the unit is compact, low cost and can be installed according to quantity of waste, setting up equipment installation plan is easy and does not require excessive capital investment.
“The amount of ash after treatment decreases to about 1/200 of the introduced amount. The ash is removed during maintenance. Due to double structure, heat insulation effect is excellent. Outside temperature of the furnace doesn’t rise to dangerous temperature to the human body,” he explained.
He added that this conforms to legal regulations such as the Ministry of Environment laws, and is available not only for household garbage of various facilities such as hospitals, factories and supermarkets and of an isolated island, but also for drifting garbage, waste ship, fishing nets, among others.
