President Akufo-Addo

The International approval rating of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo continues to soar, as several world acclaimed institutions keep rating him as the best among his contemporaries on the African continent.

The recent credible organisation to join the list of rating institutions is Cameroon based Education Channel, Displore, which has adjudged President Akufo-Addo as the best President in Africa. The President was adjudged the best in a list of ‘Top 10 African Best President’ ranking compiled by the Education Channel.

According to Displore, a Cameroon Education channel which helps people with vital information to make their lives easier and also do ‘Top 10 Rankings’ of everything in Africa, the top 10 African best Presidents were selected based on policies as presidents, achievements while in office and approval ratings by both followers as well as opposition.

“These leaders are not considered flawless, but we consider them some of the best,” Displore said.

Solid footprints

Giving reasons why President Nana Akufo-Addo is the best in Africa, the organisation stated that Ghana’s President, elected in December 2016, is “keeping solid footprints on the sand of history”.

Citing already published polls that put President Akufo-Addo ahead of his contemporaries on the continent, Displore referenced the President’s visionary policies such as the Free Senior High School programme and his strong fight against corruption as some of the basis for the rating.

First in Africa, third in the world

Displore’s rankings follows two credible rankings in which the President has been adjudged the best in Africa.

Last year, Canadian based research team, ‘Leaders of tomorrow’, adjudged President Akufo-Addo as ‘Africa’s best President’.

Releasing the best and outstanding list of presidents in Africa, following a poll conducted by the research organisation, President Akufo Addo came first and emerged as the winner.

The results of their research put the President of Botswana, Ian Khama Khama, as second; President of Mauritius, Ameenah Gurib as third; President of Seychelles, Danny Faure, as fourth; and President of Gambia, Adama Barrow, as fifth.

The research team said President Akufo-Addo had been the man of the people with a high approval rating because of his positive policies such as free secondary education, Planting for Food and Jobs, One District, One Dam, Nation Builders Corp (NaBCo), among others.

They further cited his commitment to the development of Ghana, lack of major controversies or corruption allegations under his regime and his government’s respect for the rule of law as major pluses to the President.

The Canadian based research also followed a similar research conducted by a US based think tank, World Vision Forum, which placed President Akufo-Addo as first on the list in Africa and third in the world of best presidents with vision.

Top 10

The Displore ranking, which placed Akufo-Addo as the best, also had other Presidents, including President Cyril Ramaphosa, of South Africa; President Sahle-Work Zewde, of Ethiopia; President Macky Sall, of Senegal; President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, of Angola; and President George Manneh Weah, of Liberia among the top 10.

Others are President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, of Burkina Faso; President Danny Faure,  of Seychelles; President  Adama Barrow, of Gambia; and President Paul Kagame, of Rwanda.
