Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama says the current Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not committed to the fight against corruption with the establishment of the Office of the Special Prosecutor headed by Martin Amidu

To him, although there are a number of institutions to fight the graft, there is the lack of will power.

“In tackling corruption, we have a lot of anti-corruption Institutions but the problem is the will power to allow them to work.”

According to him, Nana Addo Dankwa just appointed a Special Prosecutor and set up his office just to raise the hopes of the people but is not committed to the fight against corruption.

This he said is because although huge budget is located to the office, the monies are not made available to the office.

Apart from lacking financially, the Special Prosecutor’s office does not have investigators and is not equipped to fight corruption;an indication that Akufo-Addo was not incorruptible like the NPP made him look in 2016.

He said with him, he ensured that all his appointees who were engaged in some form of corruption were investigated and those found guilty were prosecuted and dealt with.

Citing an example of some cases that the NPP has failed to prosecute although there were dockets made available he said the National Service Scheme fraud and issues with Zoomlion which the government has failed to act on.
