New Patriotic Party, Abdul-Aziz Haruna Futa,

The National Nasara Coordinator of the New Patriotic Party, Abdul-Aziz Haruna Futa, has disclosed that the governing party has taken steps to protect its members against the ‘finish am’ threat from the National First Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Chief Sofo Awudu Azorka.

According to Mr Haruna Futa, the party finds the ‘finish am’ directive by Chief Azorka “threatening”, and would not treat it lightly.

He stated that to protect NPP members from unprovoked attacks from “blood thirsty” thugs, the party has reported the case to the police.

“We take a serious view of it. I am sending a strong word to the NDC and Sofo Azorka and his people. We have reported this case to the Regional Police Command in the Savannah Region and I’m expecting them to take it seriously. While we follow the laws of Ghana, nobody can take the law into their own hands,” Mr Aziz Futa stated in an interview with Accra based Citi Fm.

‘Finish am’

The NDC Vice-chairman over the weekend commissioned his ‘boys’ to ‘finish’ members of the NPP who would be found to be engaged in activities that are not in the electoral interest of the opposition party.

In a video that went viral on social and traditional media, the NDC leader, who is also the founder of the notorious Azorka Boys, a group noted to be perpetrators of heinous electoral violence and have been terrorising people during elections, was seen angrily ordering his ‘boys’ to go round and ‘finish’ NPP supporters “who will be seen in their communities”.

“…If you see anybody in your community holding this book, going round, writing our people name, masa don’t let him go free. This book, if you see him, you do what? Finish am!” he said to a thunderous response of “Finish am” from the NDC supporters who had gathered around him.

With a raging anger in his voice and blazing eyes, he added: “They are not Electoral Commission. They are not the Electoral Commission; listen well, you see anybody holding this book, going round our communities, collecting people voting ID card, masa you should do what? Finish am,” he emphasised.

Already, Mr Aziz Futa has stated that the ‘Azorka Boys’ have started carrying out the order of their boss. He has disclosed that a member of the NPP has already been beaten, with his mobile phone and money taken by the NDC, while collecting data purely for the party’s own use ahead of the elections.

Falsehood

Meanwhile, Mr Aziz Futa has described as false claims by the NDC leader that the NPP is collecting data of perceived NDC members to remove their names from the newly compiled voters’ register.

Expressing shock at the lies, Mr Aziz Futa said it is impossible for him to expunge anybody’s name from the register.

He indicated that the said exercise being embarked upon in the various Zongo communities is only to assist the party to effectively target Zongo communities and campaign ahead of the 2020 polls.
