His Royal Majesty Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, the overlord of Gonjaland, and President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, has bestowed his blessings upon the Vice-President and NPP Flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, as he campaigns  to be elected as the next president  of the country  in the upcoming  December  7 general elections.

While recognising Dr. Bawumia as a true son of Gonjaland, the King emphasised his deep ties to the region, and lauded his contributions to its development.

The blessing was given when Dr. Bawumia and officials of the NPP visited the King and the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, as part of his ongoing nationwide campaign tour.

Assurance

The Yagbonwura assured the Vice- President of his support and that of the chiefs and people of the region, and wished him well in the upcoming general elections. “You are my son and consider yourself as a son of Gonjaland. May your dreams be fulfilled. I assure you of my blessings and support as the overlord of Gonja,” Yagbonwura Soale I said.

The Yagbonwura commended Dr. Bawumia’s pivotal role in the creation of the Savannah Region, which led to the formation of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.

The King emphasised the importance of conducting election campaigns with civility, and urged the youth to refrain from actions that could disrupt the nation’s peace.

Inclusive transformation

Meanwhile, the Vice- President has stated that it is his vision to create a country that will depict a tent big enough to include everyone in the transformation agenda.

Addressing members of the clergy in the Savannah Region yesterday as part of his campaign tour of the region, Dr. Bawumia reiterated his commitment to transforming Ghana with the support and mandate of the people of Ghana.

“My vision for this country is to create a tent that is big enough so that we can involve everybody, include everybody, and transform this country. I have several ideas that I want to bring into operation,” Vice- President Bawumia said.

The NPP Flagbearer further called on the clergy in the Savannah Region to support him and to pray for him as he travels across the country, seeking the mandate of the people.

Achievement

Touting some of his achievements, he stated: “Let me tell you that Ghana has taken leadership in medical drone delivery in the world. Ghana is the largest medical drone delivery service in the world.”

“Recently, they came to recruit somebody from Ghana to take him to San Francisco to lead a team of drone flight operators from Ghana, because they have the best experience here from Ghana to San Francisco that he’s now there working, imparting his experience,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“I’ve been doing quite a bit as Vice- President, and I am saying all of this just to make the point that if I have been able to do all this as Vice- President, then I believe if you make me president, I’ll be able to do much, much more for this country,” he added.
