Bono Regional Chairman of NPP, Kwame Baffoe

The Bono Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, has asked Ghanaians to reject former President Mahama’s promise of paying allowances to all apprentices in the country, if given the nod ones again to governing the country.

‘Abronye,’ as the Bono NPP Chairman is affectionately called, contends that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) made a similar promises ahead of the 2008 general election and could not fulfil same after eight years in power.

“I would like to remind John Mahama that the NDC party made similar concocted promises in the year 2008 and Ghanaians bought their ingratiate campaign message but that promise fell in dead rocks.

“Let me quote from their 2008 manifesto, particularly at page 61, under the theme   ‘Special Support For Artisans’: The Rural and Urban Entrepreneur and Artisan Project shall pay special attention to mechanics, electricians, drivers, hairdressers,  dressmakers,  plumbers,  mason,s  carpenters and other allied tradesmen and women, as well as those in the food industry.

“Now the simple but important question is: what special attention did the NDC give to the mechanics, electricians, carpenters, hairdressers,  plumbers,  drivers,  masons and the chop bar operators, ie food industry, when they won power in 2008 with that ‘sophistry promise’?” he questioned.

“The only attention they gave to mechanics, carpenters, hairdressers, electricians, plumbers, drivers, etc was ‘dumsor’ attention,” he added.

‘Dariga’

According to the Bono NPP Chairman, “such a promise by John ‘Dariga’ Mahama, the NDC presidential candidate, can only be described as chimerical, sophistry and blandishment”, adding that Mr Mahama’s track record in government gives credence to the fact that he cannot fulfil the promise he is making and only trying to play on the intelligence of Ghanaians.

“It is blandishment in the sense, that a government that could not pay 50,000 nurses and teachers allowance only to have same cancelled is now promising to pay allowances to over three million artisans /apprentices,” he said.

He asked Ghanaians to “wake up and resist the NDC blandishment message”.
