The executive secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Kenneth Agyeman Attafuah, has confirmed the decision of his outfit to begin the registration for Ghana in the Eastern Region from March 4 to March 27.

According to Professor Agyeman Attafuah, the NIA has issued about 80 per cent of the Ghana Card out of 9 million registrations.

He disclosed this during a short visit to the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council in Koforidua.

Good hospitality

Professor Agyeman Attafuah appealed to the regional coordinating council and the municipal and district chief executives to educate the public to offer good accommodation to the employees of the NIA and also provide the needed security to ensure a smooth exercise.
“For all of us to make sure the programme runs successfully in the region, we need to provide all the necessary assistance and to create awareness about the exercise so that all qualified individuals will go out to register,” he added.

Readiness

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, said the region is prepared for the registration.
He assured that the region is going to provide the best environment for the staff of NIA to ensure that the programme becomes successful.
