The Ghana senior national team, Black Stars, will hold a two-week training camp later in May.
According to a national team schedule prepared by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), coach CK Akonnor will be afforded the opportunity to prepare his squad through a training camp ahead of the crucial African qualifiers to the 2022 Fifa World Cup.
Ironically, the Black Stars – despite being scheduled to play their first qualifier at home – will be holding the training camp in a yet-to-be-named European country from May 20 to June 2, 2021.
The team will then head home to begin their quest for a fourth campaign at the biggest stage of world football – after missing the Russia 2018 edition – by hosting Ethiopia on Friday, June 4.
A visit to South Africa for the second Group G qualifier follows 8 days later.
Ghana’s next batch of World Cup qualifiers are in September and then October where the group phase will be completed.
The winner of Group G joins others from 9 other groups to the final round which will feature five two-legged play-off ties scheduled for November.
The aggregate winners to emerge then become Africa’s representatives at the Qatar Fifa World Cup next year.
