Isaac Dogboe vs Navarrete

The hope of many Ghanaians that Isaac Dogboe could recapture his WBO Super Bantamweight title will have to tarry for a little longer.

In a much talked about recapture fight, Dogboe has been beaten again, this time in a 12th round knock out.

Isaac Dogboe suffered a technical knockout to Emmanuel Navarrette of Mexico as he sought to recapture his WBO Super Bantamweight title.

Dogboe’s corner realizing the fight was becoming too much for the Royal Storm, threw in the towel at 2:02 of the 12th round to save the boxer from further punishment.

Good start

Dogboe started well in the first round with some attack-minded boxing but soon, Navarette found his feet and used his reach and jab to find some rhythm in the second round. To say the height of Navarrete was a big advantage to him as Isaac Doboe looked like a midget throughout the fight will be an understatement.

From the second round, the Mexican turned the game to his favour every time Dogboe  had the opportunity to come back into the game.

Dogboe started to wobble as early as the 6th round.

Knock down

At the 8th round, he suffered his first knockdown but managed to beat the referee’s count.

Dogboe tried hard to make the fight which was more than a reach for him a contest but Navarette’s counter punching, reach and skill kept Dogboe at bay. This kept the bout in the favour of the Mexican all night.

Cut

To make matters worse.  Dogboe had a cut at his right eye giving Navarrete a sky rocketing advantage over the Ghanaian.

Towel Thrown
In the 12th round, Dogboe’s corner decided it was enough and threw in the towel to end the bout.

Boxers Comment

Speaking after the fight, Dogboe thanked Navarrette for the chance. Unable to shout his usual Neho, Dogboe said he will consider moving to 126 pound division since he will be more ‘comfortable’ there. “I thank God for this bout and I thank Team Navarette for the chance. I give hearts off to him for a great job and I can only say well done to him. I will move up to 126-pound division. I will be more comfortable in that weight class.” He said.

On his part, Emmanuel Navarette expressed shock that Dogboe was able to stand his punches. “I am very surprised that Dogboe could take so many hard shots. He could also give hard shots. I thank him for the chance to become world champion and for the chance to remind everyone why I am the world champion.”
