The Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG), Dr John Kpikpi, has called on Ghanaians to reconsider their voting patterns, while stressing agriculture and national unity as critical drivers of transformation.

He made the remarks when the Taviefe Youth Movement paid a courtesy call on him after he honoured their invitation to attend the Easter Homecoming in the Volta Region.

Call for Change in Voting Patterns

Dr Kpikpi urged Ghanaians, particularly in the Volta Region, to move away from long-standing political loyalty and embrace a new direction that delivers results.

“We’ve been voting the same way over 32 years now, and we’re not getting anything out of it. The Volta Region has been very, very faithful to the National Democratic Congress, so faithful that they’ve been taken for granted. When you keep doing the same thing over and over again without getting results, and you want a different result, then you have to change what you do.”

He added that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and NDC have failed to significantly change the country’s trajectory, urging voters to consider PAG as an alternative.

Agriculture as a Transformational Tool

On development, the candidate highlighted agriculture as a key sector capable of transforming livelihoods, especially in Taviefe and other parts of Ghana with vast arable land.

“Agriculture alone, if it is looked after and attended to very well, can transform the status of wealth in a whole community. There is plenty of land in this area, and if they embrace agriculture, rice, chicken and all that, they can begin to take bold steps and see their communities transform even before we come into power.”

He noted that empowering the youth with knowledge and support in agriculture could fast-track Ghana’s quest for food self-sufficiency.

Call for Unity and Peace

Dr Kpikpi also stressed the need for unity, particularly in areas affected by longstanding disputes, noting that peace is essential for development and progress.

“There is hope for peace and unity and progress. I see the time is very near when all the old conflicts and debilitating issues will be left behind, and people will embrace a brand new future with happiness and joy. Without justice, conflict will always continue, so we are looking forward to a very just decision that will help people accept one another and work together.”

He commended the Taviefe youth for promoting unity through their activities and encouraged them to continue leading efforts to bring people together despite divisions.
