The latest legal action follows the discontinuance of an earlier suit against Mr Adjei at the Achimota Circuit Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and a previous High Court decision setting aside an earlier writ.

Lawyers for Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin have filed fresh defamation suits at the Accra High Court against the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi.

The latest legal action follows the discontinuance of an earlier suit against Mr Adjei at the Achimota Circuit Court on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and a previous High Court decision setting aside an earlier writ.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mr Afenyo-Markin’s lawyers, Dehyena Chambers, confirmed that a fresh writ against Mr Adjei was filed at the Accra High Court on the same day the Circuit Court proceedings were discontinued.

The new action, numbered GJ/0061/2027, concerns statements allegedly made by Mr Adjei on Peace FM, which Mr Afenyo-Markin considers defamatory.

Separate Suit Against Sammy Gyamfi

The statement further disclosed that a separate defamation suit had been filed against Mr Gyamfi at the Accra High Court on Thursday, October 15, 2026.

The suit, numbered GJ/0045/2027, relates to statements allegedly made by the GoldBod Chief Executive during the Government Accountability Series and on Joy FM’s Newsfile programme.

According to the lawyers, both legal actions were initiated on the express instructions of Mr Afenyo-Markin.

The statement did not disclose the specific statements being challenged or the reliefs being sought against the two defendants.

Lawyers Disagree with Earlier Court Decision

Dehyena Chambers also expressed disagreement with an earlier High Court ruling that set aside a previous writ filed on behalf of the Minority Leader.

The lawyers, however, indicated that the fresh legal action had been initiated in accordance with the court’s latest interpretation of the applicable procedural rules.

“Although we disagree with the High Court’s earlier decision setting aside our client’s previous writ, this new writ has been issued against the Defendants in accordance with the Court’s latest Interpretation of the rules,” the statement explained.

The legal team maintained its determination to pursue the cases through the judicial process, declaring that “The Mills of Justice Grind Slowly but with Great SURETY.”

The statement was signed by F. Paa Kwesi Abaidoo, Esq., solicitor for Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.

The latest filings mean that the Minority Leader’s defamation claims against the two public officials will proceed as separate actions before the Accra High Court, subject to the court’s determination.

Neither Mr Adjei’s nor Mr Gyamfi’s response to the fresh suits was included in the statement.
