Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to grace the 2026 Learned Dinner, an event organised by Dame and Partners to celebrate and officially welcome newly called lawyers into the legal profession.

Scheduled for Friday, October 23, 2026, at the White Restaurant, near Soho in Accra, the event will bring together newly qualified lawyers, legal professionals and other invited guests for an evening of celebration, networking and entertainment.

Dr Bawumia, who is also the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, has been announced as the special guest for the event, which seeks to recognise the achievements of the new lawyers and provide an opportunity for professional and social interaction.

The dinner is being held in collaboration with the Law Students Network (LSN) and the Young Lawyers Network (YLN), under the auspices of the NPP’s Legal Directorate.

Celebrating New Legal Professionals

Dubbed Learned Dinner 2026, the gathering follows the October 9 Call to the Ghana Bar, which saw 1,568 newly qualified lawyers admitted to practise as barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

The event is intended to provide a memorable welcome experience for the newly qualified lawyers, allowing them to celebrate their professional milestone while building relationships with colleagues and other members of the legal fraternity.

In a promotional message ahead of the dinner, organisers encouraged participants to come prepared for an evening of entertainment, relaxation and networking.

They described the occasion as an opportunity for the new lawyers to unwind after years of academic and professional training, reconnect with colleagues and establish relationships that could support their future careers.

Networking and Professional Connections

Beyond the celebrations, the Learned Dinner is expected to strengthen connections between newly qualified lawyers and other legal professionals, creating opportunities for mentorship, collaboration and professional engagement.

The participation of Dr Bawumia as special guest is expected to add prominence to the occasion, bringing a national political figure together with an emerging generation of legal practitioners.

The organisers have announced a formal or black-tie dress code for the event, which is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m., according to the official flyer.

The dinner will also feature music, entertainment and opportunities for participants to interact in a relaxed social setting.
