AYENSUANO DCE CHARGES RESIDENTS TO BE AMBASSADORS OF YES VOTES

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ayensuano, Florence Govina, has charged residents in the District to be ambassadors of Yes Votes for the December 17 referendum.

She indicated that, the vote for Yes during the referendum will pave way for political parties to sponsor candidates and participate in local level elections. This she said will lead to rapid and effective developments, accountable local level leadership and strengthens Ghana’s democracy.

“Ghana is a beacon of democracy in Africa and we must entrench this enviable position by ensuring that political parties are duly represented not only at the national level but also at the local level,” she said.

She added that a Yes vote will also give the people the power to elect their own Metropolitan Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), an opportunity which should not be taken for granted.

Ms. Govina was speaking at Anum Apapam on Tuesday, 19th November, 2019, during a town hall meeting to sensitise people in the District on the upcoming referendum.

                  Intensify Campaign

She urged all key stakeholders to intensify campaign on the referendum. She stated that with few days to the referendum, it is only intensified campaign that can help the people appreciate the issues better.

“I wish to enjoin all Stakeholders in this exercise to take this election seriously and ensure that there’s much education to enable a massive turnout of voters,” she said.
