The District Chief Executive(DCE) of the Ayensuano District Assembly in the Eastern Region, Florence Govina has enumerated some successes of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government in her district. According to the DCE, the government has made some tremendous strides in various sectors of the economy.

In the education sector Ms. Govina stated that the government has completed a six-unit classroom block at Owusu Wawaase. The Assembly has also completed two-unit KG blocks at Kyekyewere Mensahkrom, Kwaboata Junction and Teacher Mante as well as three-unit classroom blocks at Amanase Aboabo and Anum Apapam Islamic basic school. Also three school projects have been rehabilitated whiles a three-unit classroom block is ongoing at Anum Apapam with three new contracts for Kokosease, Kuano and Kwadjo Fosu awarded. “The Assembly has completed the construction of two official staff bungalows and one is still on going. We are working around the clock to connect the place with electricity.” She said.

Ms. Govina was speaking at the Assembly’s first ever Meet the Press Program held on Thursday 24th October, 2019.

She said in the area of health, provided funding for Hospital Beds, Mattresses vaccine fridges and bathroom scales for the only health center in the district.

                     

                        AGRICULTURE 

Ms. Govina added that the district has distributed chemicals to about 753 farmers in the district to fight fall army worm in the and distributed about 7,500 seedlings to 275  farmers under the Planting for export and rural development project (PERD). She said the Assembly has also provided 11 motor bikes for agric extension officers in the District to aid in farmers visitation.
      ONE DISTRICT, ONE WAREHOUSE

Ms. Govina added that under the one district, one warehouse project, a new warehouse project has been started in the district adding that “this would go a long way in boosting the local economy”.
Ms. Govina also enumerated some achievement made in the area of Water and Sanitation including construction of 30 boreholes and 34 toilet facilities in the district.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayensuano Constituency, Samuel Ayeh-Paye on his part said about 54 communities have been connected to the national grid with about 1000 electricity metres secured to be distributed to residents in some selected communities in the area. He added that contracts have also been awarded for the construction of some 13.5 kilometre roads in the constituency.
