The National Women’s Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kate Gyamfua, has said that it will be suicidal, especially for women, to return former President John Dramani Mahama as president in the December 7 general election.
Ms Gyamfua contends that the track record of Mr Mahama and his NDC suggest that, given the opportunity, they will reverse all the pro-poor interventions put in place by the Akufo-Addo government.
“I am making a clarion call to women to work hard to retain the NPP government because a vote for the NDC and John Mahama is a vote for incompetence, a vote for hardship and a vote for a clueless government,” she said.
Plight of market women
Speaking on Kumasi based Ashh Fm on Friday, when she took her nationwide working visit to that region, Ms Gyamfua assured market women in Kumasi, who are harbouring anger over what they say is the ill treatment meted to them by the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, to exercise restraints.
“I’m appealing to the market women in Kumasi to exercise restraint as my good office is in talks with the Kumasi Mayor to reduce some of the frustrations you go through in the hands of the assembly taskforce and other discomfort situations,” she assured.
She pleaded with the market women not to use the anger in them to vote against the NPP since that will mean derailing all the successes chalked by the country under the Akufo-Addo administration.
