The leadership of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region has presented some Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to all 33 constituencies in the region.
The items were part of a general consignment handed to all 16 regional secretariats of the party by its General Secretary, John Boadu, some weeks ago.
They include veronica buckets and stands, hand washing basins, tissue papers, dustbins, liquid soaps and hand sanitizers.
Fighting coronavirus
Handing over the items to the party’s constituency executives in Koforidua, on Tuesday April 28, the Eastern Regional Organiser of the party, Kwame Appiah Kodua, speaking on behalf of the Regional Chairman, Kiston Akomeng Kissi, said the donation forms part of the NPP’s commitment to lending a strong support to the national response to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
He said the presentation, which forms part of the party’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, was to bolster the government’s efforts to combat the spread of the deadly disease in the region.
For his part, the Regional Youth Organiser, Jerry Osei-Poku, urged the constituency executives to continue to educate their constituents to strictly adhere to the stay-home directive, observe social/physical distance and follow every hygienic protocol which have been outlined by the country’s health authorities.
Abuakwa North Constituency Chairman of the party, Mr Asare, who received the items on behalf of his colleagues, expressed gratitude to both the national and regional executives of the party for the kind gesture, saying the donation will go a long way to help their constituents to protect themselves against the Covid-19.
Ghana currently has recorded 1671 positive Covid-19 cases, with 16 persons confirmed dead and 188 recovered.
