Ghana has inaugurated a new Consulate General at Guangzhou in China. The exercise is aimed at  deepening the trade and economic relations between Ghana and China.

 

At a short  ceremony on Wednesday 26th June,2019, Ms. Shirly Ayokor Botwey, the Minister for Foreign Affairs recounted the role Ghana played in 1971 in spearheading China to be accepted at the UN security council.

She added that China is by far Ghana’s biggest trade partner and hence both countries respects the bilateral cooperations for mutual benefits that exists between them. She stated that it was therefore only prudent to respond to the calls from Ghanaian citizens and businesses regarding the geographical land size of China and accessibility of consular services that enhances Business and diplomatic relations hence the new consulate.

 

The new consulate will have jurisdictions over some Chinese major provinces like   Guangdong, Fujian, Hainan and Guanxi all in southern China.

She Thanked the Chinese government and all Consulate Generals of Africa in China for their support in making this dream a reality.

She also advised Ghanaians living in China to be law abiding and be ambassadors for Ghana .

Mr. Yaw N Nsiah the Consul General used the occasion to introduce the staff of the new consulate.

In Attendance at the inauguration were vice chairman of Guangdong province, Ghana’s Ambassador to China H.E Edward Boateng And Deputy Ambassador H.E Dr Charles Dwamena.
