Robert Atsu Okor, the organizer of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG), University of Education, Winneba (UEW) chapter, was on Thursday, sworn into office as a member of the Hohoe Municipal Assembly.

Youngest Assembly member

Mr. Okor was elected as the Assembly Member for the Gbledi-Chebi Electoral Area on December 17, 2019, defeating his opponents, Mr. E.K Assem and Mr. Boniface Agamasu with over 400 votes. He ascends the Assemblyman throne of Gbledi-Chebi as the youngest in the history of the Electoral Area.

 

The swearing in ceremony which took place at the Forecourt of the Municipal Assembly, Hohoe, pursuant to section (3) of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) had the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Municipal Coordinator, President’s Representative, Traditional leaders, clergy among others in attendance.

Best Performing

In his welcome address, Teddy Ofori, the MCE for Hohoe Municipality, lauded the efforts of the Assembly which has been adjudged, recently, as  the best performing assembly in the Volta Region and eleventh in the country.

Congratulation

The Paramount Chief of Gbledi Traditional Council, Togbega Homatekpor V, together with his elders, opinion leaders and some family and friends accompanied Mr. Okor for the swearing in. They congratulated him for his victory and urged him to work hard to up lift the image of the area.
