As part of activities marking its 20th anniversary, the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the New Patriotic Party will, from today, hold series of programmes in Ho, Volta Region.
Organised by the national youth wing of the party, the programme will be chaired by the national chairman of the party, Freddie Blay, whilst former President John Agyekum Kufuor will be the guest of honour. The special guest speaker will be President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The theme for the anniversary is “20 years of commitment without inducement: TESCON our generational pillar”.
Activities
Activities earmarked for today include “Achievements galore procession”, which starts from the party’s regional party office at Ho. There will also be a health screening and street campaign today.
A grand durbar will then be held at Ho Technical University Auditorium tomorrow.
Launch
Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia last year launched the 20th anniversary of TESCON-NPP, with a call on the youth to close their ranks and forge ahead in unity for a common purpose.
He also urged them to use their energy to support the Akufo-Addo government to realise the big dream of building a Ghana beyond aid.
TESCON
From its humble beginnings as the tertiary students’ wing of the NPP, TESCON has steadily evolved into a powerful political machinery, occupying an important place within the structure of the NPP.
Since its inauguration on January 8 2000, by former President John Agyekum Kufuor, TESCON has been at the forefront of student and political activism, and grass root mobilisation.
It has produced a wealth of talented individuals, whose skills and drive have been aptly utilised by the NPP to build capacity and enhance its stock as a demonstrable political guild.
