The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Eastern Region has observed that the opposition NDC has affirmed its incompetence in the selection of its parliamentary candidates in the region.

The NPP says the NDC, led by former President John Dramani Mahama, has proven that it cannot be trusted with the destiny of the country since it cannot manage its own internal affairs.

Addressing a press conference yesterday at the regional secretariat in Koforidua, Jeff Konadu Addo, NPP’s Regional Secretary, said the governing party finds its curious that the opposition party, which started the processes selection parliamentary candidates about a year ago, still does not have the full complement of candidates in the Eastern Region.

“The mass rejection of Mr John Mahama’s second term bid, even among their ranks and the struggle to have people putting themselves up on their parliamentary tickets in the Eastern Region, is a clear indication that the NDC are in critical conditions and it also affirms their incompetence,” Mr Konadu said.

He said after a year of going through selection processes, the NDC still does not have candidates in New Juaben North, Akuapem North, Fanteakwa North and South, Atiwa East and West, among others, saying it is the defeat staring the party in the face that is forcing all potential candidates to run from the upcoming election.

Victory beckons

Mr Konadu said the NPP is poised to increase its voter percentage margin, both in the parliamentary and presidential polls, through hard work, dedication and rolling out of social interventions tailored to the aspirations of the electorate.

He used the opportunity to congratulate all NPP aspirants for putting themselves up for the party’s just ended parliamentary primaries.

He urged those who won to be magnanimous in their celebrations and also be determined to run an all-inclusive campaign, which has been the hallmark of the party.

“The party is now more formidable than ever to prosecute the developmental needs Ghana so much requires. The Regional Executives have the firm conviction that those who have been thoughtfully elected and selected by the delegates represent the aspirations of the people in their constituencies.

“These are men and women who have sacrificed to push Ghana and the Eastern Region in particular into the realms of sustainable development, both for today and the future,” Mr Konadu said.
