In keeping faith with the promise made ahead of the 2016 general election, the Akufo-Addo government has fulfilled yet another campaign promise made to the youth of the country. Ten youth resources and sports centres across the country are currently near completion. The centres are built with fully-equipped library, ICT hub, social hall, multi-purpose pitches and courts.
The centres are being built by the National Youth Authority (NYA) under the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
This was disclosed by the National Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye, through the party’s ‘Youth Must Know’ series.
All the 10 projects are about 70 to 80 per cent complete. Nana B, as the party’s youth organiser is affectionately called, is full of praise for the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, and the board and management of the National Youth Authority (NYA) for the projects.
The construction of the youth resource and sports centres was part of the party’s manifesto promises ahead of the 2016 general election. On pages 47 and 48, it promised to build the 10 centres.
Under ‘Youth and Sports’ in the manifesto, the NPP promised to “develop, in partnership with the private sector, Youth Development & Sports Centres in all Regions.”
“Each centre will house a fully-equipped library, ICT hub, social hall, multipurpose pitches and courts,” the manifesto said.
Nana B has, thus, asked the youth to continue to believe in the NPP government to work in their interest. “The future of the Ghanaian youth looks promising under President Akufo-Addo,” he said.
