KGL Group, the licensee of KGL Technology Limited, has entered into partnership the Ministry of Youth and Sports to raise $25million for sports development in the country.

The move forms part of the company’s corporate social responsibility in terms of efforts at improving its consumer connection and supporting socially relevant causes.

The sponsorship package from KGL Group forms part of a larger effort, led by the government, geared towards raising financial support across the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ghana Football Association (GFA) and corporate bodies.

Commitment

A statement from the company indicated its contribution comes with commitments from other corporate bodies during a recent breakfast meeting with President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Among the institutions present at the meeting were Coca Cola Bottling Company, Akosombo Textiles, Toyota Ghana Ltd, Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Universal Motors, Zondac Tec. Ghana Ltd and Macdan Group.

“All funds committed and pledges by KGL Group and other corporate institutions will be focused on supporting the Ministry of Youth and Sports and GFA’s efforts in preparing the national football team, Ghana Black Stars, to partake in the upcoming AFCON and 2022 FIFA World Cup campaigns,” it said.

The Board Chairman of the KGL Group, Togbe Francis Nyonyo, is quoted as saying: “KGL’s social accountability goes beyond just giving back to society or charity cases, but encompasses the complete integration of KGL’s business divisions to check impact of our operations across all aspects of society, including economic, social, and environmental.”

He further re-echoed the commitment of his company to the cause of sports development, and urged other stakeholders to join hands in collectively supporting the Youth and Sports Ministry as well as efforts by the GFA to prepare the national team ahead of the tournament.
