The Kyebi government Hospital has gotten a brand new 12 room facility consisting of a nine bedroomed fully furnished ultra-modern ward with a fully furnished doctor’s office and nurses’ station. The facility which is named after Oheneyere Christiana Duodua, one of the 44 wives of Nana Sir Ofori Atta I was donated to the hospital by Etwienanahene of Kyebi, Barima Kwaku Dua. The new facility and its furnishing cost some $400,000.00.

The Etwienanahene of Kyebi also donated a brand new anaesthetic machine and an ‘aboboyaa’ to the hospital to aid and enhance health delivery at the hospital. The donation is part of the activities to mark the 6th Anniversary celebration of Barima Kwaku Duah as the Etwienanahene of Kyebi and the Okyeman State.

Speaking at the handover ceremony organized at the Kyebi Government Hospital, Barima Kwaku Duah, stated that the donation is to “re-affirm the rich tradition established by Nana Sir Ofori Atta I to lead by serving the greater good” of the people.

He said it is his fervent hope that the donation will provide the administration and staff of the hospital the wherewithal to serve Kyebi and the people better adding that “it is our birthright, our responsibility as descendants of the great Ofori Panin stool, to serve the true unsung leaders of the Hospital to progress the vision of Nana Sir Ofori Atta I.”

Barima Kwaku Duah stated that it is the passionate desire of the Okyenhene Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin to transform Kyebi into a modern functioning traditional capital in a thriving Okyeman and called on all the citizens of Okyeman and Kyebi to “put our shoulders to the wheel and do our little bit for the town that we so dearly love.”

On her part, the Queenmother of the Okyenman state, Nana Adutwumwaa Dokua congratulated Barima Kwaku Duah for the good job done. She called on citizens of Ghana and most especially citizens of the Okyeman state and Kyebi to emulate the good work done by the Etwienanahene.

National cake

Nana Dokua called on all women of the Okyeman state to take advantage of the government’s Free SHS policy to educate their wards. She said the Free SHS policy is one of the means by which the national cake is being distributed nationwide and advised all parents to take advantage of the policy for their share of the cake.

Nana Dokua also advised the management and staff of the hospital to ensure proper maintenance of the hospital.

The Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Charles Nyarko expressed the heartfelt appreciation of the management and staff of the hospital to the Etwienanahene. He also called on other well-meaning Ghanaians to come to the aid of the hospital since there are equally more important things that the hospital need.

He used the occasion to espouse some successes the hospital has chalked within the last two years including the adjudging of the hospital as the second best managed hospital in the Eastern Region in 2016. He added that due to proper management of the hospital, it has now become an examination center for some selected Nurses and Midwifery training schools in the country.

He stated that the new ward has been donated at a time that the hospital is struggling with some infrastructural deficit and promised to ensure that the facility will be put to very good use.
