The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu, has cut sod for the expansion and rehabilitation works on two government hospitals in the Eastern region. The two are Kyebi Government Hospital built in 1926 at Kyebi and Kwahu Government Hospital built in 1954 at Kwahu Atibie. The two hospitals are part of four government hospitals that are currently undergoing expansion and rehabilitation works in the region. The other two are Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital and Aburi government Hospital. The rehabilitation works for all four hospitals are expected to cost some 40 million Euros.
The expansion works are in fulfillment of the government promise of ensuring Ghana meets the Universal Health Coverage by 2030.
HEALTH FOR ALL
Speaking to the Daily Statesman on the sidelines of the sod cutting, the Health Minister said, it is the vision of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government to ensure that every citizen gets affordable, accessible and effective health delivery hence the expansion, retooling and the building of health facilities across the country.
NHIS

He urged medical practitioners to give out the right medication for patients who are on the NHIS saying government is committed to ensuring that the scheme works effectively for the benefit of all Ghanaians.
He cautioned managers of health facilities who try to dupe the NHIS system to desist from such acts saying such perpetrators when caught shall be made to face the law without mercy. “Anyone found guilty of such bad behaviour will be brought to book.” He said
