Eric Kwakye Darfour

Some 13 constituency executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nkawkaw constituency of the Eastern Region have thrown their weight behind the Member of Parliament for the area, Eric Kwakye Darfour, in the upcoming parliamentary primaries. The 13, in a statement, said the decision was taken in a ‘broader consultation with the constituents within and outside our political tradition”.

“Our reason is premised on his focus, excellent and mature leadership being exhibited at the constituency and in the Region, as the representative of H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic of Ghana. We firmly believe and same is true for the overwhelming majority in the constituency that the massive infrastructural projects that have started since 2017 under his stewardship require uninterrupted continuation and consolidation to transform completely the deficit we have lived with all these years,” the statement said.

The 13 executives include the first vice-chairman, the secretary, the treasurer, acting organiser, women organiser, youth organiser and his deputy. Others are the Nasara co-ordinator and deputy, the financial secretary, the elections and research officer and the communications officer.

Led by Francis Abuaku, the first-vice chairman, the 13 say they declared their “unflinching and unalloyed support, which inductive effect is expected to ripple positively throughput the party structure”, at an executive committee meeting held on Wednesday April 22. They are hopeful that their support will “conserve our energies on the task of winning greater effective votes, come 7th December 2020 than expending same internally”.
