As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) under the Good Causes Foundation, National Lottery Authority, (NLA) has donated Gh¢100.00 to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to support tidal victims in the region.

Presenting the cheque at a ceremony at the NLA office in Accra, the Director General, Mohammed Abdul-Salam said the foundation is geared towards addressing pressing needs of people in their respective communities.

He said the support will provide immediate relief to displaced families as a result of the devastating effects of the tidal waves on families and communities hence the Volta Regional Coordinating Council made a passionate appeal to the NLA through the Volta Regional Minister.

The Director General said the Foundation saw the need to promptly come to the rescue of the victims and pointed out that devastations of the tidal waves have affected coastal communities.

Receiving the cheque, the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ketu South Municipal Assembly, Mr. Nicholas Kwabla Worclachie expressed his gratitude to NLA for the kind support, adding that the move was timely and will address the plight of the victims.

He said close to 1,200 people have been displaced and have affected economic activities as majority of the victims engage in fishing related jobs in the communities.

The Volta Regional Minister used the occasion to appeal to other institutions and cooperate bodies to come to the aid of the affected communities saying will help advance the livelihoods of the people.
