David Prah, Eastern Regional communications director of NPP,

The Eastern Regional communications director of the New Patriotic Party, David Prah, has called on the government to withdraw all state privileges accorded former President John Mahama.

According to him, since he lost power, the former president has been on the tangent of tarnishing the image of the country, and so does not deserve a “statesmanship honour”.

War mongering

Mr Prah’s call follows a statement by the former president about the Electoral Commission that sought to incite supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress against the Commission.

Speaking to some fisher folks from the Western Region, who paid a courtesy call on him last week, Mr Mahama said the NDC and its allies have warned the EC not to go ahead with the compilation of a new voters register. He added that, in view of that, if the EC goes ahead to compile the register and there is chaos during the December general elections, the commission should take the blame.

The statement, described by the NPP communications director as “reckless and irresponsible”, has since received condemnation from many Ghanaians.

According to Mr Prah, such statements and several others made by the former President make him unworthy of his title as a “former President who should enjoy from the sweat of the poor Ghanaian tax payer.”
