Former Education Minister under the erstwhile Kufour administration, Professor Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Techiman North constituency to embrace unity and discipline as the party works towards reclaiming the Techiman North seat.

The former legislator made the call at the party’s constituency delegates’ conference held in Tanoboase.

The conference, as per Article 7(27) of the New Patriotic Party’s Constitution, was divided and organised in two zones, Tanoboase zone and Aworowa zone respectively, and was held in strict adherence of the Covid-19 protocols.

Professor Ameyaw Akumfi took the opportunity to advise delegates to the conference on the need to embrace unity, discipline and commitment in the party in order to ‘break the 8.’

“I am calling on the delegates as well as all members of the New Patriotic Party within the constituency and beyond to forgive one another and remain united if only we are aiming at breaking the 8-year rule,” he said.

All on board

He added: “We must also start working on bringing everyone on board to recapture our lost seat in the 2024 general elections. This can only be achieved if we instil discipline in our line of politics going forward”.

He also officially declared his intention to contest in the NPP national chairmanship race. The Techiman North constituency chairman, Paul Addo Kwarteng, assured the former legislator of the party’s support and prayers.

Also present at the conference were constituency executives, the DCE, Peter Mensah, former MP, Martin Oti Gyarko, some regional executives, among other.
