The National Leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has acknowledged the party’s disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections, but remains optimistic about its future prospects.

In a press conference held on December 23, 2024, NPP National Chairperson, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, expressed gratitude to party faithful, supporters, and sympathizers for their tireless efforts during the campaign. He commended the various campaign teams and members for their dedication and commitment.

Although the party did not secure the expected victory, Ntim emphasized that the NPP has not lost sight of its quest for a better Ghana, guided by its ideals and philosophies. He shared the pain and disappointment of party faithful, acknowledging the hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians who invested their hopes and dreams in the campaign.

To rebound from this defeat, the NPP will establish an Election Review Committee in January 2025. This committee will conduct a postmortem analysis of the election outcome, engaging party stakeholders and the general public to identify factors contributing to the defeat.

The committee’s work will inform suggestions for reforms, changes, and critical issues necessary for restructuring the party. Key areas of focus will include constitutional amendments, internal decision-making processes, and the election of presidential and parliamentary candidates.

Ntim rallied party members, urging them not to give up. “We must engage the restructuring process with all the energies we can master to get the elephant trumpeting again,” he exclaimed.

In conclusion, the NPP National Chairperson wished everyone a peaceful festive season and expressed his faith in the party’s resilience. “May God bless our homeland Ghana and make the NPP great and strong again.”
