The youth of the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP) have been advised against spending too much time on social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp platforms, as they prepare towards this year’s general elections.
The national youth organiser of the party, Sammi Awuku, who gave this advice, said it has become necessary because such platforms have been infiltrated by NDC members.
He said by talking too much, the youth will unknowingly be divulging vital information about the party which will be picked up and used as campaign weapon by the opposition NDC.
“I’m therefore advising you to be wary of infiltrators by not talking too much on your various platforms,” he further advised.
Bickering and complaints
Mr Awuku gave this advice on Peace FM’s “Platform” show on Wednesday evening during an interview with Nana Yaw Kesse, the host.
He also advised the youth against unnecessary bickering and complaints that they have gained nothing since their party came into power. He said by so doing, they give their opponents the opportunity to ridicule them.
Again, he said the opposition NDC capitalises on such complaints to throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians, by claiming that the Akufo-Addo-led government has failed and that, contrary to its campaign promises to better the lives of the citizenry, government has rather imposed untold economic hardship on them.
Education for all
Notwithstanding their complaints, Mr Awuku said the living conditions of the youth, and for that matter Ghanaians, are better under the current administration than in the erstwhile Mahama era.
He noted that, as a result of the successful implementation of the Free SHS policy, Ghanaian mothers no longer sell their jewellery, clothes and other valuable items to pay their children’s school fees as they were doing during the NDC era.
“Thanks to this laudable policy, the charcoal seller’s son, who would have remained at home, is now wearing white shirt,” he said.
Keep Mahama away
Mr Awuku cautioned the youth that they will be making a very sad and big mistake by allowing former President John Dramani Mahama to come back to power to resume his mismanagement of the economy.
The nation’s development, he said, will retrogress in the unlikely event that the former President comes back to power. He therefore urged the youth to critically examine “sleep if you know nothing about death”.
According to the NPP national organiser, former President Mahama, who once described himself as a “dead goat”, will “deal drastically” with Ghanaians if he is given another mandate because he will have only one term to serve.
