The National Youth Authority (NYA) has commended the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) for the organization of this year’s Job and Career Fair.

The Job and Career Fair 2021 is slated for 9 and 10 September at the Accra International Conference Centre. According to the NYA, the event is in the right direction since it goes to help the youth in the country.

The Youth Authority has therefore endorsed the fair, and encouraged the youth to take full advantage of the many career and networking opportunities it presents.

A statement signed by its Acting Chief Executive Officer, Pius Enam Hadzide, said the mandate of the NYA is to spearhead the comprehensive development of Ghanaian youth through the formulation and implementation of various empowerment policies and to enhance the capacity of the youth to participate in decision making at all levels.

“The NYA fully recognizes that the fulfillment of its mandate depends on a collaborative effort between the Authority and its sister agencies and thus commends the YEA for this initiative geared towards securing the economic development of Ghanian youth,” it said.

“The NYA remains committed to the economic, social and cultural development of the Ghanaian youth and will partner with all relevant stakeholders to fulfill this mandate,” it added.

Job and career fair

The numbers of unemployment and underemployment are on the rise exponentially in the country, particularly among the youth category between the ages of 18 and 40 years. This mostly comprises graduates. Part of the menace is not the fact that there are no jobs. Rather, it has to do with accurate information, channels and flexibility, and criteria for qualification for job accessibility are either inappropriate to merit the job opportunity.

On the back of this, the Youth Employment Agency is outdooring this initiative as part of its responsibilities to mitigate the issue of unemployment in the country in partnership with the private sector.

The job fair is planned to take place in selected regions in the country, after the success of the Accra edition.

This is for persons looking for jobs, internships, career guidance or advice.
