The Executive Director of Our Faith in God Foundation, an Akwatia based Orphanage in the Eastern Region, Janet Oppong, has called on corporate organizations, philanthropists, and individuals to support orphanage homes.
According to her, the running of an orphanage home comes with a lot of financial challenges which need the support of others to make the orphan children feel loved and appreciated.
Ms Oppong said this on Thursday when a US-based Ghanaian group, Okyeman Association of Georgia, donated quantities of food items to help in the upkeep of the children.
She added that people should feel obligated to support the orphans in an attempt to save them from loneliness and grief.
Donation
The group which is one of the key sponsors of the orphanage donated the items as part of the annual contribution to the orphanage.
Items donated include bags of rice, sugar, beans, maize, assorted drinks, bottled and sachet water, and toiletries among others.
The Country Representative of the association, Foster Antwi, stated that the decision to support the orphanage annually is part of the association’s gratitude to God.
He said members of the association had decided to help the less privileged and orphans as a way of appreciating God’s blessings in their respective lives.
Receiving the items, Ms Oppong appealed to individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the orphanage to help them complete a two-storey accommodation facility for the children.
