Rev Dr Kofi Amfo-Akonnor presents the items and the cash to Supt Christian Akpotosu Nartey
The Koforidua District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has presented GHC3, 700.00 cash to Prison officers at Koforidua. The money is to help the prison buy a brand new electric corn mill to replace an obsolete and broken down one which can no more be used to mill corn for the feeding of the inmates.
In addition, the church also presented items including tubes of toothpaste, toothbrushes, bags of washing powder, bottles of disinfectants, gallons of parazone, gallons of liquid soap, tissue papers, boxes of assorted soaps, among others, to the facility.

Presenting the items, the District Minister, Rev Dr Kofi Amfo-Akonnor, said life in confined prisons is not easy and that anyone could be there at any time.
He said some people are incarcerated without any fault of theirs, but due to technicalities involved in case management, saying such people may have been saved if they had had good legal representation.
Rev Amfo-Akonnor said the inmates are also human beings, and need to be catered for to give them some comfort.
He added that their visit to the prisons was a follow up to one they made last year, and in response to a request made by the Director of the Prisons
Superintendent Christian Akpotosu Nartey received the cash and other items on behalf of the Prisons.
He expressed appreciation to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the municipality for the good work done, nothing that this is what the good Lord commands Christians to do.
He mentioned that the meagre sum of GHC1.80 per head, which is used to cater for the inmates, is woefully inadequate.
He therefore called for more support from other philanthropists.
