The District Chief Executive(DCE) of Akuapim south, Frank Aidoo, and some security personnel have arrested the leader of the Break of Mountains prayer camp, Maa Veronica, and an elder of the church at Pokrom, in the Akuapim south district of the Eastern Region.
The arrest comes after the church refused to comply with the president’s order to suspend all public gatherings for four weeks.
The Prophetess was arrested at about 12:45pm this afternoon and her prayer camp closed down for non-compliance of the president’s order.
The church was holding its service on Wednesday when the DCE accompanied by some security operatives made up of personnel from the Ambulance Service, Fire Service and some Health officers stormed the Church.
The DCE explained that, he received complaints of an ongoing activity despite the temporal ban which forms part of drastic measures taken by government to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease in the country.
After the arrest of the two, the congregation were schooled on the directives of the president to protect all citizens from the pandemic.
The two, the prophetess and the church elder, are currently in police custody at Aburi.
