Second Lady Samira Bawumia has joined hands with the office of the Bono Regional Organizer of the new Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region to equip over 700 individuals with valuable technical skills towards women’s empowerment and self-employment.

The initiative, led by Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah the regional organizer and Doris Asoma, the women’s wing coordinator for the Bono Region, aims to provide quick wins in technical skills across six key areas: soap making, beadmaking, millinery, event decoration, makeup, and manicure/pedicure.

In an interview with the media, the Bono Regional NPP women’s organiser noted that these skills are intended to empower individuals and create opportunities for self-employment.

Doris Asoma also disclosed that the initiative is part of a larger plan organised by Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah, the digital organiser for the Bono Region, and it has received substantial support from the Second Lady.

The programme

This programme, facilitated by the Ghana Enterprise Agency (GEA), has a dual purpose. It not only imparts technical skills but also equips beneficiaries with startup kits to help them enter the market.

This comprehensive approach seeks to elevate the unemployed in the Bono Region and provide them with the necessary skills and resources to succeed.

Expressing his pride in being associated with Samira Bawumia, the Bono regional organiser, Evans Afari Gyan Yeboah, extended heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of the Bono Region for her contributions and continuous support.

This initiative underlines the commitment of the Second Lady and the NPP to foster economic empowerment and self-reliance, particularly among women in the Bono Region. It is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of the beneficiaries and the overall development of the region.
