Member of Parliament (MP) for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah, has called on Ghanaians to help the Government in its bid to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the country. He said, the nation’s ability to contain the deadly virus is what will lead to avoidance of a total lockdown of the country.
The MP said the President will have no other option than to declare a nationwide lockdown should the virus continues to spread across all regions.
Covid-19 project
The MP said this during the launch of ‘Suhum MP support projects’, a COVID-19 support project in the area. The project is meant to complement government’s effort in fighting the deadly coronavirus.
As part of the project, the MP has distributed items such as Poly tanks, Veronica buckets, alcohol-based hand sanitizers, spraying machines, tissue papers and a cash amount of GH¢200,000 to the constituency.
He also donated 10 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Municipal health Directorate.
He has again assured the constituents that hand sanitizer dispensing facilities would be distributed in all 29 electoral areas in the municipality should the pandemic continue to spread and get to the area.
The MP has also formed a group of volunteers made up of over 100 persons drawn from the National Disaster and Management Organization (NADMO) and political support groups who have been trained by Ghana Health Service to embark on public education on the pandemic.
