Work on the reconstruction of the bridge over Kasaawere stream at Akyem Oda which started in May, 2019, has stalled.

The bridge which became a death trap due to neglect by successive government for years, was awarded to Jo-Mint Limited, a Kumasi-based construction firm at a cost of GH¢13.7million, to alleviate the plight of users of the road from Oda to Accra, Agona Swedru, Asamankese, Nsawam and vice versa.

The constructor has withdrawn all his workers while his equipment are lying idle for about two months now.

The project is about 70 per cent complete and what is left is the construction of drains and earthworks like filling of the approaches and tarring of the road to and from the bridge.

When the Daily Graphic contacted the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Joe-Mint Limited, Mr. Joe Mintah why he had abandoned the project that was at an advanced stage of completion, he said he was waiting for the concrete works to cure, which was approximately one month from the day of completion.

He added that he was also mobilizing funds for the completion of the road that passes over the bridge.
