The governing New Patriotic Party’s delegates have been advised to elect hardworking and committed parliamentary candidates who have already impacted the lives of the constituents to lead the party in this year’s general elections.
Francis Ndede Siah, the Western Regional Chairman of the party, who gave this advice, stressed that “those climbing good trees need to be helped or pushed to climb higher.”
He was speaking at the commissioning of a CHPS Compound at Asakae, a predominantly farming community in the Kwesimintim constituency, on Wednesday.
Project
The project was initiated in 2012 by Joe Baidoe-Ansah, former Member of Parliament for the constituency, with his successor, Joe Mensah, completing and furnishing it.
The Daily Statesman gathered that the Latter-Day Saint church also donated assorted medical equipment for the running of the facility.
According to Nana Kojo Asante 11, chief of Asakai, who cut the tape at the brief ceremony, his community had more than a decade used a dilapidated wooden structure in the centre of the market as CHPS Compound, with nurses always complaining about inconvenience and discomfort working in that environment.
He could therefore not help in praising the MP for completing the project, and doing so at the right time when the nation is fighting Covid-19.
Chairman Ndede Siah reiterated that it takes a dynamic and visionary Member of Parliament to alleviate the suffering of his constituents.
Again, he said it is only a visionary MP who can effectively lobby the central government for projects executed by Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
One good term…
He said Joe Mensah has distinguished himself as an MP and deserve another term to do more. It is against this backdrop that the ‘Game Changer,’ as he is popularly called, once again urged the delegates to vote massively for the incumbent in the impending primaries to partner President Akufo-Addo to move the nation forward.
In a brief remark, the MP said over GHC200, 000 from his share of the Common Fund allocations had been pumped into the facility, adding that there are plans to develop the top part of the building into an official residence for the midwife.
He said construction works are currently ongoing on another uncompleted CHPS Compound at Anaji, also started by his predecessor.
Joe Mensah advised residents of Asakae and all his constituents to disabuse their minds of superstitious beliefs associated with illness and rather seek prompt medical care at health facilities whenever they fall sick.
This was corroborated by Joyce Sutherland, the Effia -Kwesimintim Municipal Health Director, who gave the assurance that the CHIPS compound has trained nurses and requisite equipment for treatment of all manner of illness.
