Amanonehene of Anum Asamankese, Baffour Kwabena Anyane Danso

The youth of Ghana have been asked to focus on things that develop their personal capabilities, while eschewing social vices that will retard their psychological growth.

The advice was given by the Amanonehene of Anum Asamankese in the Eastern Region, Baffour Kwabena Anyane Danso.

According to Baffour Danso, the proverbial statement “the youth is the future of the country” has outlived its usefulness since “today is yesterday’s tomorrow”. He noted that the future is now and the world would not wait for the Ghanaian youth if they do not take their destiny into their own hands.

He said across the world, the youth are becoming “the movers and shakers” of all sectors of the economy due to innovation, encouraging the Ghanaian youth to motivate themselves with the success stories of their counterparts in other parts of the world.

He stated that Ghana can develop if the youth take the destiny of the country into their hands and bring out innovative ideas that will shape the technological, educational and economic architecture of the country.

Enstoolment

Baffour Kwabena Anyane Danso made the statement during a ceremony to enstool him as the Amanonehene (diaspora chief) of Anum Asamankese. Known in private life as Kinglsely Hanson, Baffour is a US based nurse who resides in New York.

Addressing the gathering after his enstoolment, he noted that his main aim is to bring on board his colleagues in the diaspora to accelerate the development of the area. He stated that he will focus on health, which is his area of specialisation, as well as education and infrastructure development.

The Anum Asamankese Amanonehene assured the people that he will commit to their welfare and development.

He used the occasion to call on his colleague indigenes of Anum Asamankese who are living abroad to join forces with him to develop the community.

“We have a lot to do for this community. Our palace is not befitting of us. We need development and I promise to serve my people by promoting our interest to my colleagues,” he assured.

Chief of Anum Asamankese, Barima Essa Kwasi Mensah Bediako III, commended Baffour Danso on his ascension to the stool and assured him of the support of the chiefs, elders and people of the community.
