A total of 13 communities in the Asene Manso Akroso District in the Eastern Region have benefited from an electricity extension program.
The program forms part of the expansion of electricity to rural areas across Ghana. Some of the beneficiary communities include Small London ,Odumase,Oseihu, Suponso,Kwasi Kwaa among others.
The Member of Parliament of the Area, Mr. George Kwame Aboagye who led the commissioning of the projects in an interview with the Evening Mail said the provision of electricity to the beneficiary communities was in fulfillment of his campaign promise in the 2016 general elections.
He stated that he believes that access to electricity is a pre-requiste for modern day communities adding that the Akufo-Addo government will continue to fulfill all promises made to Ghanaians.
Mr. Aboagye said with the expansion of electricity to these communities, school children can now be able to study at night to enable them pass their exams.
He added that the connection to the national grid will also boost the economies of such areas as business men and women can now have electricity to preserve their foodstuffs and grow their businesses.
He stated that many of the communities in the area have other requests including provision of potable water, good roads among others.
He however assured them that plans are in place to get all of these problems fixed and called on them to continue to believe in him, the DCE and the president.
The Asene Manso Akroso law maker was accompanied by a team made up of the District chief Executive of the area ,Mr Alex Incoom, Npp executives from Region and constituency as well as officials of the electricity company of Ghana.
The people in the beneficiary communities praised the MP and the NPP government for providing them with electricity.
